Black Hills Recovery Network Plans Fun & Educational Event For Children

Black Hills Recovery Network is planning their 6th Annual Safety Saturday, a celebration of safe communities and supporting Safe Routes to School. This one day event will be held May 10th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Hermosa Elementary School in Hermosa, SD. There is no charge for this event.

We hope this will help prepare children for the summer months when they have more free time. Kids of all ages need to be outside enjoying the world that surrounds us, but they also need to be prepared with safety education to help them make safe choices.

This year we have added some games, a clown, and some new educational programs such as flotation devices, and service animal awareness. Other classes offered through out the morning will be basic first aid, bullying, fire safety, electrical safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety.

This day camp is designed to increase children’s (farm children and town children) awareness of a wide variety of hazards, as well as providing them with fire safety and basic first aid training to help them or someone else survive an accident should one occur.

After providing the children with lunch, the afternoon will be dedicated to our WHEELS RODEO. Please bring your bicycle, scooter, or board and your helmet, there will be some loaners. There will be prizes for everyone along with a chance to win one of several new bicycles.

We hope you will join us in this commitment to the safety and well-being of our youth, and attend Safety Saturday on May 10th in Hermosa at the Hermosa School. We all want our children to live, work and play in safe communities! . See you there!

This day camp has been made possible by the support of Hermosa’s local businesses, Farm Credit Services, local organizations and church’s. Please call the Hermosa Town office with any questions or for a permission form (605-255-4291), they will also be available at the event. Everyone is welcome!
